What is a Cana Commandments Retreat?
Cana Commandments: The 10 Commandments of a Catholic Marriage is a one-day marriage enrichment retreat created to deepen the marital bond. Couples grow in holiness, charity and humility by focusing on their marriage from the perspective of each spouse’s individual culpability and responsibility.
WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT?
At the retreat you and your spouse will be in a room with other couples where you will be taken through a variety of activities from engaging lectures on the Ten Commandments of a Catholic Marriage, personal reflections, written exercises, engaging activities, and demonstrations. Cana Commandments includes time for individual reflection, private discussions with your spouse and gender-specific group time. While couples are free to share and ask questions, no one is obligated to self-disclose, if they prefer otherwise. The couples retreat is authentically Catholic and up-lifting. Cana Commandments is one of our two stand-alone marriage enrichment retreats.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE RETREAT?
Any couple may benefit from this retreat if:
You are married
You are in a loving and strong relationship, and aspire to make it even better
You are in a challenging relationship and yearn for spiritual renewal
WILL WE BE EXPECTED TO SPEAK IN FRONT OF THE GROUP?
Only if you choose to! Cana Commandments is not group therapy and your privacy will be respected. Couples are invited to join in and create a supportive group atmosphere, however we welcome you to participate at your level of comfort. You will have the chance to comment upon your shared experience, during the optional group sharing.
CAN WE ATTEND IF ONE OR BOTH OF US ARE NOT CATHOLIC?
Absolutely, with the understanding that this is a Catholic retreat.
WHAT IS THE COST OF THE RETREAT?
The retreat fee is $125, per couple.
WHAT IF THERE IS NO RETREAT SCHEDULED NEAR US?
Ask your parish or diocese to host a Cana Commandments retreat near you!
WHAT IF WE HAVE TO CANCEL?
A 50% refund is available if you cancel 60 days in advance of the retreat. There are no refunds if you cancel within 30 days of the retreat.
WHAT KIND OF FOLLOW-UP IS AVAILABLE AFTER THE RETREAT?
We highly encourage all couples to attend our other marriage enrichment retreat, Cana Communication. Your facilitator offers individual and couples counseling at her private practice in Plano, Texas.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ATTENDING THE RETREAT?
You will gain personal insight into how you are living up to the Ten Commandments of a Catholic Marriage. Also, you will uncover a passageway for your personal emotional healing and spiritual growth within your relationship
IS FOOD PROVIDED?
A light continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages will be provided. If you have special dietary needs, please alert us and feel free to bring whatever you need.
HOW SHOULD WE DRESS?
Dress is casual, comfortable and we suggest wearing layers in case of varying room temperatures.
WHAT DO WE NEED TO BRING?
Bring a willing attitude and open heart. Feel free to bring pillows or anything else you need for your comfort.
WHAT IS THE RETREAT SCHEDULE?
Cana Commandments is a non-residential retreat, which allows you the freedom to sleep in the comfort of your own home or at a local hotel of your choosing. Please plan to attend the entire retreat, as each section of the retreat builds upon the preceding section, thus arriving on time and being present for each part of the event is vital.
A Cana Commandments retreat is a special time for couples who desire to live out the holy vocation of a sacramental marriage, examine marriage as a partnership and covenant with God, learning tried-and-true marriage skills and tools, while reflecting on their civil union. Couples will receive materials, a light continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages, and a certificate of completion.
Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 from 9am to 5pm at Stacy Furniture and Design - Community Room at 1900 South Main Street Grapevine, TX, 76051.
